Fremont Oktoberfest, Sept. 17-19
We miss you, Oktoberfest! Pandemic permitting, the Fremont beer and cider event returns in 2021. Come for the drink, food and music. Paid entry for those age 21+. Plus, bring the pooch on Sunday for Dogtoberfest! Your furry friends are welcome on that day. Entrance at 3503 Phinney Ave. Friday, 5-10pm; Saturday, 12-4pm; Sunday, 12-5pm

Free National Park Day, Sept. 25
Held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, National Public Lands Day is traditionally the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort. It celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community. Entry is free at Mt. Rainier and Olympic National parks, as well as all Washington state parks.

South Asian Film Festival, Oct. 1-24
Watch, listen and enjoy. It’s the 16th Tasveer South Asian Film Festival. Support culture and entertainment by catching a film, attending a talk or listening to a reading. More details here.

Salmon Festival, Oct. 2-3
Issaquah does salmon right – and big. The 52nd event celebrates the annual return of salmon to the city’s salmon hatchery. Come for the food, arts and entertainment. (Sorry, no live parade this year.) Free.

Geekwire Tech Summit, Oct. 4-6
If you’re a tech geek, you are “summonsed” to the Geekwire Summit at Block 41 in Belltown. The summit includes in-depth fireside chats, interactive panel discussions and networking opportunities – all with the aim to enrich and inspire the business tech community, its leaders and friends. People may also attend virtually.

Bellevue Jazz & Blues Festival, Oct. 6-10
Top national and regional jazz musicians will converge on Meydenbauer Center and other Bellevue venues for an appreciation of America’s own classic sounds. Some events free. Details are still taking shape.

Beer Tasting at the Zoo, Oct. 7
Dozens of breweries will participate in the Brew at the Zoo at Woodland Park Zoo in Phinney Ridge. Take it all in – food, drink, music and encounters with the animals – with money raised supporting conservation project at home and abroad. Open to people 21+ with ID. 6-9pm

Water Lantern Festival, Oct. 9
Come to Green Lake for this family friendly – and truly memorable (and sometimes emotional) – event. The Water Lantern Festival is a ticketed program at Seattle Public Theater (7312 West Green Lake Drive North) that includes a floating lantern kit with LED candle and commemorative drawstring bag. Plus, come for the food, music and games. No pets. 4-8pm

Seattle Kraken Debut, Oct. 12
The National Hockey League officially welcomes its 32nd franchise next month with the start of the new season. The Kraken, a mythical Nordic sea monster, unleashes its tentacles on Oct. 12 with the debut match in Las Vegas. After five road games, from west to east, the Kraken drops the puck on its home campaign with a tussle against their new rival Vancouver on Oct. 23 at Climate Pledge Arena (included in this month’s primary photo) – a battle that will be broadcast live across the U.S. and Canada.

Wekfest Seattle, Oct. 17
Billed as the “dopest car show in the nation,” Wekfest is a celebration of custom cars, with displays of pre-screened aftermarket builds and aftermarket vendors at Lumen Field Event Center. $25;1-6pm
