How Affordable Housing Is Ramping Up

Satisfying the growing need for affordable housing is one of the biggest issues in our country.

The problem is prevalent here in King County, where approximately 122,000 new units have been created between 2010 and 2019. That comes out to one home per 2.6 new county residents over the same 10-year period – clearly not enough to meet demand. And that does not represent the smaller segment of affordable housing data.

REALTOR® Magazine recently published a story that reveals how different areas of the country are building new multifamily homes to address the lack of affordable homes. The in-depth article covers examples of successful communities/projects in places from New York City to Miami, and even in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood.
