The Eastside is simply amazing to watch its unprecedented growth in commercial and residential construction. Bellevue is at the heart of this expansion with plans to double downtown office space to 20 million sq. ft. in less than a year.
Among the many city office projects, Amazon is building two iconic towers with a combined 1.6 million sq. ft., as part of the company’s 5.6 million sq. ft. in its growing downtown footprint. The towers will stand a few short feet away from a Link light rail station that is targeting a 2023 operational start, with the two buildings tentatively opening 2 years later.
Amazon, the state’s largest private employer, plans to add about 25,000 jobs to the city in the coming years. That is plenty of incentive for residential developers to purchase land and build across – and above – town.
