Nexus: Take a Tour of Seattle’s Newest High-Rise Condo

If you look it up in your Merriam-Webster, the definition of “nexus” is “the central and most important point or place.” And for one new high-rise condo, its owners believe it is at the nexus of a reimagined neighborhood known as Denny Triangle.

The building is appropriately named Nexus, a 41-story, 389-unit luxury condo that opened in mid-February to positive reviews. It sits at the corner of Minor Avenue and Howell Street, an area that interlocks with I-5, the new expansion to the Washington State Convention Center, Westlake and South Lake Union.

The rooftop amenities are epic – both for the 360-degree views of the city and mountain ranges in the distance and for the eye-popping live/play spaces indoors and outdoors high above the city. Another gathering space is in the 7th-floor Podium Club, featuring a media room to watch the big game on 86-inch-screen TVs, co-working spaces with comfy furniture and private pods, as well as outside areas with chairs, tables and fire pits.

The same floor is home to an average-sized fitness center with about 10 heart-pumping machines, an outdoor dog run and indoor pet washroom and a library. Here’s my initial look at the place:

If walking or driving in the area, you will know Nexus by its Jenga-style architecture with some gaps in the structure appearing to be missing (don’t worry, they are not!) and multiple stories looking like building blocks turned slightly. It will make you look twice – and that’s the point!

Nexus is the first high-rise condo to hit Seattle in a few years. Two more are scheduled to open later this year: KODA in the International District and The Emerald in downtown. Denny Triangle will feature new high-rises starting in 2021 but they will mostly be apartments. There is a lot springing up across the city…and you can be sure this blog and my monthly newsletter (sign up here) will be on top of it all.
